GoogleHaven Story on WTNH
Lots going on and many residents and local businesses stepping up to lend a hand. We have on-line videos being developed, street teams hanging ...fliers in neighborhoods, major media coverage in both TV and print media. And all the hard work of the #GoogleHaven committee to get the word out to local businesses and organizations.
We are almost at the 400-mark on our facebook group and DOUBLED our sign-ups through highspeednewhaven.com in one day! The message is getting out and people are engaged and excited.
I love it. Keep it up, we have less then two weeks to show Google how important this is to us.

We Want New Haven to be a Google Haven
Here is our plan:
- Focus on getting a representative for business and community organizations to fill out the long form (https://www.google.com/appserve/fiberrfi/user/launch_exhibit_b) through targeted direct outreach over the next few weeks.
- Drive the rest of the community to the short form at www.highspeednewhaven.com
This will allow the arts, education, technology, nonprofit and business organizations to vote on behalf of their group and include more detail that will help our case with Google while at the same time allowing a simple way for the general public to sign up and show their support through the short form on highspeednewhaven.com. This URL is also easy enough to remember as you talk it up around town.
How can you help?
- Go to www.highspeednewhaven.com and sign up.
- Sign up for the Facebook Group and SeeClickFix Case and join the discussion.
- Tweet it up!
- Print out fliers and hang them up around town.
- Spread the word! Blog about it. Talk it up at work, home and school.

I put together a quick screen cast to show the steps above in action:
Bring Google Fiber To New Haven - www.highspeednewhaven.com
Communities around the US are competing to get Google's attention.
It would be FANTASTIC if New Haven was chosen!
How can you help???
1. Join the Facebook group
2. Follow the SeeClickFix Case
3. Sign up on the City's Google Fiber site
4. Sign the Google Community Interest form
5. Most importantly - Spread the word! Tell your friends. Talk it up at work. Tweet it up!
www.highspeednewhaven.com has been set up to be a clearing house of information to bring New Haven together. The application is due 3/26/2010 so we only have a few weeks to rally the community. We can do this!

90s WHUS UCONN Radio Days
Chris Stout and I had the Friday night 2am - 6am shift! We had a blast playing what ever we wanted and mixing it up. We even had regular callers like Big John from Willimantic who was recently released from prison. He said we had a big following with the prison crowd. Ha!
I graduated in December of 1991 but continued to go up to Uconn to do our weekly radio show and of course to visit my future wife :). Our show was lodged between the Friday night weekly show - "Free Form Funkified Filth" and the Polka shows on Saturday morning.
I transferred this little snipet from the cassette. We interviewed M. Scott Holcomb Undergraduate Student Government Vice President. The quality is horrible, and the mics are totally over modulated. But hey its college radio so what do you want? I totally loved every minute of it.

Where The Sidewalk Ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind. Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends. Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me Too
Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me Too
Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too,
Went for a ride in a flying shoe,
"Hooray!"
"What fun!"
"It's time we flew!"
Said Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too.
Ickle was captain, Pickle was crew,
And Tickle served coffee and mulligan stew
As higher
And higher
And higher they flew,
Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too.
Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too,
Over the sun and beyond the blue. "
Hold on!"
"Stay in!"
"I hope we do!"
Cried Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too.
Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too
Never returned to the world they knew,
And nobody
knows what's
happened to
Dear Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too.
