GoogleHaven Story on WTNH

Check out the great story Chris Velardi put together on our grass roots campaign!

Lots going on and many residents and local businesses stepping up to lend a hand. We have on-line videos being developed, street teams hanging ...fliers in neighborhoods, major media coverage in both TV and print media. And all the hard work of the #GoogleHaven committee to get the word out to local businesses and organizations.

We are almost at the 400-mark on our facebook group and DOUBLED our sign-ups through highspeednewhaven.com in one day! The message is getting out and people are engaged and excited.

I love it. Keep it up, we have less then two weeks to show Google how important this is to us.

We Want New Haven to be a Google Haven

Andre Yap's post this morning is a fantastic summary of what the #GoogleHaven Committee's focus will be over the next two weeks. We are using a 'no gimmicks' direct approach that will show Google why they should pick New Haven for the Google Fiber Project.

Here is our plan:
  1. Focus on getting a representative for business and community organizations to fill out the long form (https://www.google.com/appserve/fiberrfi/user/launch_exhibit_b) through targeted direct outreach over the next few weeks.
  2. Drive the rest of the community to the short form at www.highspeednewhaven.com

This will allow the arts, education, technology, nonprofit and business organizations to vote on behalf of their group and include more detail that will help our case with Google while at the same time allowing a simple way for the general public to sign up and show their support through the short form on highspeednewhaven.com. This URL is also easy enough to remember as you talk it up around town.

How can you help?
