Education and Creativity

Sir Ken Robinson talks about creativity and the challenges of changing education to value creativity as much as literacy.

The Grove - Story.Lab Week 4

Here are the slides from the fourth and final week of Story.Lab presented by Ken Janke from The Grove. There are two fantastic video clips from this week from Sir Ken Robinson that are focused on the themes of creativity, collaboration and education. Several of the story.labbers shared their stories with us inluding Aldon, Lydia, Rachel, Jeff and Mason. I can tell that people spent a lot of time thinking about defining their story and many are well on their way to living it out. Hopefully some of those folks will be willing to share their story as Aldon did.

I want to give a huge thanks out to Ken Janke for guiding our journey over the past four weeks.

I took the boys to Lorren's Memorial at The Connecticut Dance Conservatory tonight. What an amazing night! Her husband Carl set out tons of photos & memorabilia that filled each room of the studio. Lorren was always such a gracious host and hosted our food coop potluck dinners for many years. We had some fantastic food, drink & conversation. Really very special times. Lorren & her family were also so accepting of our kids even when they wert the best behaved. We will carry fond memories of those times always.

What a great life. I'm sad she had to go so soon, but she defiantly lived it to the fullest.

The Grove - Story.Lab Week 3

Here are the slides from week three of Story.lab presented by Ken Janke from The Grove. There were some new folks who joined us this week so they may be interested in reviewing week one and week two slides first.  How are people finding the material? I really enjoy the thought provoking nature of the content and discussion, but really think it will take quite a bit more time to define my own story. As Ken says, it took him almost six years to define his!  Story lab presentation 3

The Grove Story.Lab - Week 2

Ken Janke continued to be our guide in helping each of us to determine the story of our life in the second installment of Story.Lab. He will be posting his slides online to help all the participants think through the questions raised and even more importantly broaden the discussion to a wider circle of people.

Here are this week's slides:

Ken showed the trailer to a documentary called Darius Goes West. Take a look. It's a wonderful example of a person not only writing their story, but LIVING their story!

Looking forward to continuing the conversation!
